It’s time for our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. With all the craziness going on this year, we are all searching for a new “normal”.  Traditionally, we would be in full swing already.  While our current climate does not allow for our “normal” food drive process, we don’t want to miss the opportunity to serve our community…so we adjust!  This year we are asking our amazing church family and the community to contribute specific items that will provide a few meals for a family of four (similar to our Smart Kids – Smart Lunch program this summer). We will certainly miss our sorting party and sharing the work together.

Here’s this year’s process:

Purchase two reusable grocery bags (usually next to the registers) 

Items to pack in the bags (be sure to check the expiration dates):

2 – 4 oz, 4 cup fruit bowl (mandarin orange or peaches)                     
1 box variety pack (13 oz) 10 serving oatmeal packets 
2 – 14.5 oz cans green beans                                                                          
2 – 14.5 oz cans sweet corn 
2 – 14.5 oz cans other veggies (carrots, peas, mixed veggies)                  
1 – 16 oz can yams 
1 – 16 oz bag long grain rice                                                                            
1 – 16 oz bag dried black beans 
2 boxes Kraft Mac n Cheese 7.5 oz box                                                      
2 – 26 oz cans chicken noodle soup 
2 cans other type of soup                                                                             
2 – 12 oz cans canned chicken 
1 – 38 oz jar Welch’s grape jelly (plastic jar)                                                 
1 – 38 oz jar creamy peanut butter (plastic jar) 
2 boxes 1 lb spaghetti noodles                                                                     
2 jars 24 oz. meat sauce for pasta 
1 box 6.8 oz chewy granola bars variety pack                                           
1 bag Martha White Mexican Cornbread mix 
1 bag Martha White muffin mix

The items above should cost approximately $47 (we shopped at Kroger).  We will also be accepting financial donations via our website or mail, as well as $25 Kroger/Aldi/Walmart gift cards. If you would like to make a donation online, please go to chambleeumc.org/give.  Then click on “donate online”, enter the amount, click on the small arrow next to “fund” and choose “food ministry”.  Click “give once”, enter an email address, click “continue” and “confirm”.

If you are giving a $25 gift card, please put in a separate envelope individually, not in the bags.


Food drop off (at Chamblee Methodist Church) dates will be:

Wed. Lunches through 11/4; 12:30 – 1:30, under the portico on the right side of the building.

11/8 and 11/15 in-person worship (10-1 dropoff) at the check-in tables

11/1 following worship 12:00-2:00, at the back of the building at the Fellowship Hall door
