Thanksgiving Food Drive 2023

September 30, 2023 – November 18, 2023

For the last 40 years, Chamblee UMC has sponsored a food drive that provides families in our community with a Thanksgiving Food Basket including fruit, vegetables, and a wide variety of canned and dried food items.  These families are identified with the assistance of our local school counselors and social workers.  Our goal this year is to help 200 families in need within our schools and surrounding community! 

Ways to Help

Volunteers are needed for every phase of the Thanksgiving Food Drive. From collections and sorting, to to translation assistance to box distribution. Big or small, there’s an opportunity for all to serve. Sign up here.

What to Donate

Donations will be accepted beginning Sept 30 at our Fall Festival, on Sundays beginning Oct 1, and at all CFUMC events through mid-November. Bagged or boxed donations (no glass) should be placed in the large collection bins in the Narthex, Atrium, and Fellowship Hall. You may also shop and direct ship to the church via this Amazon link. Specific items needed:

  • 16oz bag of dried beans (red beans, black beans, lentils, etc.)
  • 16oz bag of rice
  • boxes or bags of 1lb dried pasta or noodles
  • 12 oz canned meats (tuna, salmon, chicken, etc.)
  • 6 or 8 pack of fruit cups (peaches, pears, mandarin oranges, etc)
  • 24 oz cans or plastic jars of tomato sauce, marinara, canned tomatoes
  • 15 oz canned vegetables 
  • cereal (oatmeal, boxed, individual box pack)
  • cans pasta meals like spaghetti-o’s or ravioli
  • boxes of mac and cheese or 8 ct box of microwavable cups
  • box of cracker packs or granola bars
  • 28 oz plastic bottle peanut butter
  • 30 oz plastic bottle jelly
  • Hygiene items such as toothpaste, shampoo, body soap, deodorant, etc. 

Monetary and Gift Card Donations

We are also accepting financial donations via our website or mail, as well as $25 grocery store gift cards (Kroger, Publix, Walmart, Aldi.) Gift cards should be sealed in an envelope and mailed or hand-delivered to the church, attn: TFD

  • go to chambleeumc.org/give. 
  • click donate online, enter the amount, click the small arrow next to fund and choose food ministry.
  • click give once, enter email address, click continue, and confirm
