PRAYERS

Prayer is a form of personal communication with God. There is no one-size-fits-all technique for prayer, and each of us needs to find our unique style. Learning to pray is like learning to ride a bicycle — what we learn from a book or hear in a sermon is not enough. Practice leads to proficiency which, in turn, enables us to thrive.
Examples: Praying regularly for yourself, your family, your community, your church, and the world. And/or by responding to the prayer requests of Chamblee First members and friends.

PRESENCE

Worship is an opportunity to celebrate the presence of God, proclaim the good news of Christ Love, and experience God’s grace. Discipleship is a lifelong journey in pursuit of our Christian education and comes in many forms. By gathering together, we gain perspective and are empowered to participate in God’s transformation of the world.
Examples: weekly worship, faith formation classes, age-group and/or interest-specific small groups, study of Scripture

SERVICE

Volunteers are essential to carrying out the Mission and Vision of Chamblee first. By giving our time and talents, we cultivate a collaborative spirit. To experience the joy that comes from generosity is part of our spiritual growth.
Examples: Sunday Worship roles (Lay Liturgist, Acolyte, Music or Media helper); Community Outreach; Missions Projects; Congregational Care (writing cards or visiting homebound); Weekday Church Office Volunteer

WITNESS

Stewardship calls us to live out the gospel publicly, in big ways or small. John Wesley emphasized this through what is now known as Wesley’s Rule: “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times can, to all the people you can, as long as you ever can.” It is to live out the promise of the familiar song refrain: “They will know we are Christians by our love.”
Examples: At church, as a Sunday morning greeter/usher, a New Member buddy/liaison, or a Hospitality team member. At home or work. lead by example, act with integrity, and or show compassion. In the community, be aware of needs and act or advocate.
