Cold-weather clothing drive
February 13, 2022 – February 27, 2022
The Missions Committee is hosting a cold-weather clothing drive for the Elizabeth Foundation benefiting local homeless tent camps in our area. We would like the congregation, CMK, and potentially local neighbors (through social media notifications) to drop off specified clothing and other items at the church in collection bins located in the breezeway and narthex.
For anyone needing assistance, not attending services, etc., Brad Van Duser will gladly pick up donations in a 20-minute radius around the church. For questions or to request a clothing pick-up, please call or text Brad at (404) 502-3684.
The items needed most are: any cold-weather ladies clothing, any cold-weather men’s clothing especially sizes 32-40, coats, hats, gloves, men’s boxers, thick socks, blankets, and sleeping bags. Except for the men’s boxers, all items may be used. For the coats, blankets, and sleeping bags any condition is acceptable. They also need hand warmer packs like you’ll find in home improvement stores.
We’ll be collecting items each Sunday from Feb. 13-27. All items will be delivered to the Elizabeth Foundation the week of Feb. 28. On Sunday, March 6, Brad will be volunteering with the Elizabeth Foundation from 10AM until 4PM and if anyone is interested in helping that day, please contact Brad for more information. Teenagers are welcome if a parent or guardian participates with them. Volunteers will sort items and pack cars before heading to several homeless tent camps to serve a hot meal and pass out bag lunches, clothing, and other items.
