November Missions Opportunities

November is one of the best times of the year to put our faith into action. Our Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Chamblee Coalition on Homelessness Shower Event give us lots of ways to show up for our neighbors. Some jobs take an hour and others take a morning, and every one makes a real difference. Pick one (or a few!) that fits your schedule and sign up below.

1) Haul supplies to the Shower Event: Wed 11/4 and Thu 11/5
We need a few mid-size to large vehicles and some extra hands to haul the winter clothes and hygiene items we sorted.

• Load: Wednesday, 11/4 at 8 pm, at Public Storage (4340 Dunwoody Park, Dunwoody, GA 30338)
• Overnight: Keep the supplies in your vehicle
• Deliver: Thursday, 11/5 at 9 am, to St. Vincent de Paul (2060 Chamblee Tucker Rd, Chamblee, GA 30341)

If you’re bringing a vehicle, note its type in the memo. Choir members, come over right after rehearsal.

2) Shower Event shifts: Thu 11/5
Serve food and hand out warm winter clothes to our neighbors. Choose a shift from 9 to 11 am or from 11 am to 1 pm.

3) Backpack Buddies deliveries: Thu 11/5
Have an hour free but not enough time for a full shift? Deliver Backpack Buddies bags. It takes about an hour, start to finish.

4) Collection Barrel Check: Fri 11/13, any time of day
Empty one of our collection barrels at a store or restaurant  around Chamblee and bring the donations back to the church. It fits easily into a lunch hour or a break in your day.  If you have a portable cart or one to share, bring it.

5) Serve Sunday Setup and Team Leaders: Sat 11/14 at 2 pm
Help set up Fellowship Hall for Sunday’s box packing by putting out tables and arranging the food. We also need a leader for each packing team to get the team started, make decisions and check quality. If you can lead a team on Sunday, please come to setup so we can go over assignments together.

6) Serve Sunday: Sun 11/15 at 10:45 am
We’ll start with a short time of worship, with singing and a devotional. Then we’ll head to Fellowship Hall to pack 65 boxes of food and fresh produce for neighbors facing food insecurity. Bring the whole family!  There will be tasks for all.

7) Food Box Delivery to Huntley Hills Elementary: Mon 11/16
We need drivers with mid-size to large vehicles, plus extra hands, to deliver 60 food boxes and 60 bags of produce.

• Load: 12:30 pm at the church
• Deliver: At Huntley Hills around 1 pm
