Serve Our Unhoused Neighbors: November Shower Event
November 5 @ 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Support Chamblee Coalition for the Homeless
On Thursday, November 5, Chamblee UMC will sponsor a shower event with the Chamblee Coalition on Homelessness. Each time, we welcome 60–80 neighbors (men, women, and sometimes children) for a hot shower, a good meal, and a warm welcome.
What our guests will receive:
- Hot showers and new underwear from Hope Thru Soap
- Clothing and hygiene items from the Chamblee Coalition on Homelessness
- Breakfast pastries and coffee from Bagel Rescue and Dunkin’
- Pizza, snacks, and drinks for lunch, bought and served by CUMC
We need your help at three events.
This event marks the switch to winter clothing. We have a LOT of donated clothes in storage that need sorting by size and type, plus hygiene items to organize before our guests arrive.
Sorting Day #1: Friday, October 23, 1:00 PM
Public Storage, 4340 Dunwoody Park, Dunwoody, GA 30338
Sorting Day #2: Saturday, October 24, 2:00 PM
Public Storage, 4340 Dunwoody Park, Dunwoody, GA 30338
Shower Event: Thursday, November 5
We need about 10 CUMC volunteers across two shifts to staff the food, drink, clothing, and hygiene tables:
- Morning shift: 9:00–11:00 AM
- Midday shift: 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
You don’t need any experience, just bring a smile and a word of encouragement. Our guests know this event well and are very grateful for it. Two hours of your time can change someone’s whole week.
