PEACE – freedom from disturbances
Samantha Crews, Modern Worship Leader
I find this interesting. In order to experience peace, we must first experience disturbances. Have you ever thought that maybe we couldn’t fully experience the Kingdom of God without knowing the hard times?
“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking [what one likes], but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 14:17
According to this verse, it is saying righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit are the opposite of eating and drinking what we’d like to eat and drink. Meaning, it’s going to be hard to follow Jesus and we are going to have to make hard choices. And have you ever thought that to be righteous means to be virtuous, which is having high moral standards which bring A LOT of disturbances around us? It is almost like, we must embrace the disturbances in life to experience everything God has for us. Food for thought …
“For He himself is our peace” therefore; following Jesus, though challenging, is our freedom from disturbances.
Ephesians 2:14
Thank goodness for God, or else we would just have disturbances.
