SUMMARY:Backpack Buddies Packing Event
DESCRIPTION:PACKING EVENT: Feb. 15\, 4:30-6pm\, “The Corner” (Youth Room)Each week volunteers from Chamblee UMC and our neighbors pick up bulk food\, pack 95 individual bags\, and make scheduled delivery to Huntley Hills and Hightower Elementary Schools. Backpacks are subtly sent home in a backpack with children that school counselors have identified as living in a home that is food insecure. These backpacks provide weekend nutrition to sustain children until their next meal at school. Weekly tasks are: 1) Pickup bulk food at the Dunwoody warehouse (need SUV/minivan) and deliver to the church.2) Pack food into individual bags for 95 children. 3) Deliver bags to the elementary schools. Please join us in providing meals for food-insecure children. If it is your first time on the task\, we email instructions and offer to pair you with a pro. Click here to sign up.
